John Chlopek,
President 

John was born in Chicago Illinois, 1957.  He was a serious athlete competing in basketball, swimming, and soccer.  Academic interests were in the Liberal Arts with a focus on History and Art.  After attending Illinois State University for 2 years, John transferred to Florida Institute of Technology, finishing his degree in Underwater Engineering.  

John met his wife Mary during a school break and they were married in 1980.  They moved to Patterson LA to pursue a career in commercial diving.  While John enjoyed the career as a diver, the industry went through some difficult years.  In 1984 John began his homebuilding career in Houston Texas working for the largest homebuilder in the nation.   

Not happy with the Texas lifestyle and looking to spend more time windsurfing and  whitewater kayaking, John and Mary moved to Hood River Oregon, spending a year enjoying the Gorge and surrounding areas.  When the time came to get back to work, they moved to the Portland area and started Riverland  Homes in 1988. 

John is an avid  pilot  and outdoorsman using his airplane to explore wilderness areas from Idaho to the Arctic.

Christian Bittner,
Vice President 

Chris was born in Portland in 1969.  He graduated Portland State in 1995 and began working in the home building industry off and on while campaigning for an Olympic sailing spot. 

Chris was hired as a construction manager with Riverland Homes in 1999 and became an owner 2 years later.   He has been an avid sailor his whole life, competing at the collegiate, national and international levels in small boat racing. He is also an avid windsurfer and fisherman. He is famous for his smoked salmon. 

Kathy Pinson,

Accounting,

Kathy was born in Portland Oregon and received a degree in Business Finance from the University of Oregon.  She is an avid Duck fan and enjoys ballroom dancing, camping and spending time with friends and family
